Growing appetite for protein is providing a major boost to sports nutrition firms as both GLP-1 users and health-conscious consumers increasingly opt for protein-rich products

(Bloomberg) — Sports nutrition company Applied Nutrition Plc upgraded its profit guidance as continued demand for protein-rich products brightens its outlook.

The maker of workout supplements now expects adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization for fiscal 2026 to be ahead of market expectations, after revenue jumped 50% to £160 million ($218 million). It also expects fiscal 2027 earnings to exceed current analyst estimates, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Trading momentum in 2026 was “exceptional,” Panmure Liberum analyst Wayne Brown said, adding that progress in the US market and new retailer deals should support this solid performance into 2027.

Growing appetite for protein is providing a major boost to sports nutrition firms. Rival Glanbia Plc hiked its profit guidance earlier this month, as both GLP-1 users and health-conscious consumers increasingly opt for protein-rich products.

Applied Nutrition said margins are expected to decrease slightly next year, squeezed by higher prices for whey, the byproduct separated from milk curds during dairy production and a key ingredient in protein powder.
