The legacy weight-loss brand is combining GLP-1 prescriptions with personalized nutrition tools, coaching and strength training offerings

Weight Watchers is fully embracing the GLP-1 era with the launch of a new integrated platform and app revamp.

The new initiative will combine GLP-1 prescribing, personalized nutrition, behavioral support, coaching and the brand’s trademark community feel within a redesigned app and digital platform.

“People want safe, expert access to GLP-1 medications, support that fits the way they actually live, and most importantly, real and sustainable results. This is what Weight Watchers delivers,” said Weight Watchers CEO Tara Comonte.

“In fact, members who use GLP-1s while engaging with the Weight Watchers program lose more weight and report higher satisfaction and quality of life — which is why 90% of surveyed GLP-1 users expressed interest in joining community-based support programs like ours,” she added.

The company already has its own dedicated GLP-1 program, Weight Watchers Med+, which provides members access to board-certified physicians and a care team specializing in obesity and metabolic health. These clinicians write prescriptions for GLP-1 medications for eligible members and offer ongoing medical guidance throughout treatment.

The brand also recently partnered with Amazon Pharmacy to give its members quicker access to the medication, with real-time stock updates, automatic coupon savings and home delivery.

The update comes soon after the World Health Organization updated its guidelines for obesity treatment, citing the combination of GLP-1 drugs, a healthy diet and exercise being integral for success among patients.

A Revamped Program Made for GLP-1 Support

The Success Program, a separate program newly integrated with Med+, gives members on GLP-1s access to personalized nutrition guidance to help them meet important macronutrient goals, tools to track weight loss and medication doses, strategies and support for managing side effects, as well as strength-building plans to help preserve muscle mass.

Its coaches are trained in GLP-1 support, while members also can lean on virtual community groups with others on the medication and small coach-led groups focused on different areas like movement, nutrition or drug side effects.

“GLP-1 medications are powerful tools that deliver even better results when combined with behavioral support, good nutrition, movement, and ongoing monitoring,” said Weight Watchers chief medical officer Dr. Kim Boyd. “That’s why members who use Weight Watchers programming to guide their GLP-1 journey are better equipped to achieve their goals and protect their results.”

Weight Watchers reports that more than 70% of its Med+ members on the Success Program claim it helps them minimize weight loss medication side effects.

As for members on the weight-loss drugs not through Weight Watchers, the company still offers the option to utilize the GLP-1 Success Program alone, with the same guidance and support.

New Exclusive Tools & Workouts

In addition to the integrated programs, the company is rolling out new tools and features to enhance the GLP-1 experience. Those include:

  • Weight Health Score: A metric that translates daily habits into a measure of progress, drawing on inputs such as body composition, nutrition, activity and sleep from more than 60 connected devices and apps, to figure out which habits are driving overall progress.
  • AI Body Scanner: an AI-powered body scan that tracks changes in fat and muscle mass over time, which is particularly relevant for those on GLP-1 medications who struggle to preserve lean body mass through rapid weight loss.
  • Exclusive Fitness Content: Members will gain access to premium fitness content directly within the app, including progressive strength and functional movement programming from The Lifted Method by Holly Rilinger
  • Adaptability: Throughout different phases in their weight journey, members can select between flexible Modes that adjust the level and type of support. Initial modes include “All-In Mode,” a more structured pathway for those looking to jump-start their progress; “Lose Mode,” which provides members with a consistent foundation for steady, sustainable progress; and “Maintain Mode,” focused on preserving results over time.

Rilinger told Athletech News she was drawn to Weight Watchers because of how closely her mission aligns with the brand’s, specifically the rejuvenated holistic approach.

“Weight Watchers understands that success means building skills, confidence, and routines that people can maintain for life,” Rilinger said. “I wanted to be involved because together we can develop personalized programs that help people create real, lasting change.”

Rilinger’s Lifted Method centers on female-focused training designed to support muscle, metabolism, hormones and recovery. Her role in the Weight Watchers program will be to remove any intimidation around lifting weights — and progressing to heavier weights with proper form — to help GLP-1 users build muscle, lose fat and maintain lean mass and build a sustainable routine

“Together, we’re meeting members exactly where they are with personalized, accessible strength training that complements their journey,” she told ATN. “The impact is simple but powerful: not just weight loss, but sustainable results, stronger bodies and confidence that carries into every part of life.

The revamped app and programs will gradually roll out to the global market starting December 26, 2025.
