Positive Coaching Alliance to Lead Free Workshop at IDEA World Convention

IDEA World to host free Positive Coaching Alliance workshop, offering training for coaches and a complimentary expo pass to attendees

The Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a nonprofit focused on transforming youth sports through positive coaching methods, will lead a free workshop during the IDEA® World Convention in Sacramento on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

The workshop, which is open to the public, aligns with the “25×25 California Coaches Challenge,” an initiative to train 25,000 coaches across California in positive youth coaching practices by the end of 2025. The challenge is supported by the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being and the Susan Crown Exchange’s Million Coaches Challenge.

“IDEA is thrilled to host the Positive Coaching Alliance at IDEA World this year,” said Amy Boone Thompson, owner and CEO of the IDEA Health and Fitness Association. “PCA’s mission to ensure youth sports are positive, equitable, and accessible mirrors IDEA’s mission to do the same for every person globally.”

The PCA session will provide interactive training and practical tools for coaches, athletic trainers, physical educators, recreation leaders, and parents, emphasizing strategies to foster environments where youth athletes feel safe, supported, and encouraged on and off the field.

All PCA workshop attendees will also receive a complimentary two-day pass to the IDEA World Fitness & Nutrition Expo, taking place July 18–19, which showcases fitness equipment, technology, apparel and wellness products. The expo runs alongside the convention’s educational programming, which will feature over 175 sessions covering personal training, nutrition, exercise science, business development and other professional tracks.

IDEA World, now in its 41st year, is expected to draw thousands of fitness professionals to Sacramento’s convention center for a weekend of certification opportunities, networking, and presentations from industry leaders.

The convention will also feature the IDEA Fitness Awards and the Golden Gala of Distinction, with fitness icon Elaine LaLanne presenting the Jack & Elaine LaLanne Award to Denise Austin in recognition of her lifelong contributions to fitness.
