Virtuagym Launches AI Fitness Coaching Tool for Gyms, Trainers

With the launch of Max AI Coach, Virtuagym is giving fitness businesses a way to streamline coaching workflows while personalizing the client experience

Virtuagym is putting AI front and center.

The Amsterdam-based fitness software provider has launched Max AI Coach, an AI-powered tool that generates personalized workout plans in about 20 seconds and is designed to help gyms and trainers scale personal coaching.

The tool is built into Virtuagym’s Coach mobile app, which draws on the company’s library of more than 6,000 3D-animated exercises and factors in both client profile data and trainer input.

Plans can be generated based on training frequency, available equipment, injuries and preferred styles such as circuits or supersets. Coaches can also adjust or regenerate workouts and assign them through Virtuagym’s platform, which links training to progress tracking, nutrition guidance and challenges.

“The launch of Virtuagym’s new Max AI Coach marks a significant step in our mission to make personal coaching more scalable and effective,” Virtuagym co-founder and CEO Hugo Braam said. “Fitness businesses struggle with finding good staff and have a constant need to get more efficient. Max AI Coach allows them to provide a high-quality personal coaching experience at scale, without compromising on quality.”

Virtuagym said it plans to extend Max AI Coach to other products, including its body composition kiosk, which will generate workout plans tailored to a member’s fitness level and body composition. The company is also preparing updates such as AI-driven meal planning and nutrition coaching for Virtuagym’s Food app as well as AI-generated community content and business analytics tools.

“With Virtuagym Max as our integral platform AI assistant, we have moved towards an AI-first strategy that enables our customers to reap the benefits of the potential of AI,” Braam said. “We are adding layers of AI and gamification across the thousands of data points our platform generates through body composition monitoring, our integrated wearables, nutrition intake and training data. This allows us to really understand and help the member in a way that has never been possible before. It’s an exciting future, and we look forward to being a leader in this amazing revolution.”
