Travelers can now shift gears from the lobby to the bike lane as Viceroy and Rapha introduce curated cycling routes at select properties

Wellness tourism is getting wheels.

Viceroy Hotels & Resorts has partnered with cycling company Rapha to launch curated ride experiences at four properties: Viceroy Santa Monica, Viceroy Chicago, Viceroy Washington D.C. and Viceroy at Ombria Algarve in Portugal.

The collaboration gives travelers new ways to explore each destination through cycling routes that range from relaxed 3-mile rides to advanced journeys of 60+ miles for the most ambitious riders.

Each hotel will highlight its surroundings with cycling paths that honor its local landscape. Santa Monica offers a ride on the Santa Monica boardwalk and climbs into the Hollywood Hills for coastal views, Chicago highlights its lakefront and historic neighborhoods, Washington D.C. will soon showcase green spaces and landmarks, and Portugal’s Algarve region features rolling hills, village streets and coastal views.

Guests can also join local group rides hosted by Rapha, with bikes available through Viceroy’s fleet and advanced road bike options offered via local partners. The two plan to grow the program with special events and larger gatherings at select Viceroy properties, including Rapha’s RCC Summits.

The move comes as wellness tourism continues to expand globally, with a growing number of travelers opting for fitness and wellness-focused experiences rather than sitting poolside with a book. There’s no shortage of options, with something for everyone. With regard to cycling, interest appears to be broadening beyond elite riders, according to Escape Collective, with Google Trends showing “road cycling” and “indoor cycling” among the top related searches.
