Nourish Taps Investor and Soccer Star Alex Morgan for First TV Ad Campaign
The “food as medicine” startup raised $35 million earlier this year to add 1,000 registered dietitians to its platform
Nourish has launched its first TV advertising campaign featuring Alex Morgan, U.S. women’s soccer star, as personalized nutrition comes into focus for wellness seekers.
Earlier this year, the telenutrition startup raised $35 million in a Series A round that saw Morgan’s participation, bringing the platform’s total funding to $44 million since its 2021 launch.
The “food as medicine” platform’s new ads showcase Morgan’s experience of using a dietitian during her career and pregnancy, emphasizing that registered dietitians can be a game-changer even for everyday individuals. Nourish matches users with a registered dietitian to meet their unique needs, whether it’s for weight management, gut health, diabetes/prediabetes, women’s health, emotional eating, or general health.
The ads have begun airing on streaming networks such as CNN, Hulu, and Scripps and can be viewed on Nourish’s YouTube channel, with Morgan appearing in four of the spots.
“When I was looking for a dietitian, it was a really difficult process of understanding who the best fit was and the cost breakdown,” Morgan shared. “I chose to partner with Nourish because I’ve seen the results from working with a dietitian, and I want people to get more access to dietitians at low or no cost. Everyone can benefit from working with a dietitian, and I think Nourish is doing it the right way.”
Sam Perkins, co-founder and president of Nourish, noted that the company is excited to partner with the pro soccer player.
“Alex’s story of working with a dietitian to maintain her health and performance as a professional athlete and a mother is inspiring and resonates deeply with our mission,” Perkins said. “We’re proud to be making this level of personalized nutrition support accessible to every American.”
Nourish has teamed with major health insurers such as Aetna, Cigna, United, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Medicare to offer in-network dietician services to 94% of patients at zero out-of-pocket cost, offering expert support on nutrition that can improve health outcomes. With Nourish’s accompanying app, patients can connect with their dietician, share meals, ask questions, and track progress.
In addition to offering patients personalized nutrition guidance, Nourish offers medically-tailored meal delivery, support for adolescent eating disorders, perinatal care, diabetes and prediabetes, heart health, autoimmune diseases, and cancer.
