Shred App Launches CoachAI To Bring Next-Gen Personalization to Fitness

Shred’s new AI system acts less like a workout app and more like a coach that learns, adapts and talks back, according to the platform’s founder

Shred, an AI-driven training platform, has launched CoachAI, a new system it says will make digital fitness more adaptive and personalized, combining years of expert-built workouts with success patterns to adjust training over time.

At launch, CoachAI introduces two tools: Workout Audio and CoachAI Chat. Workout Audio gives real-time guidance during exercise, helping users select weights, complete reps and stay on track. Heart rate and zone monitoring integrations are expected in the next few weeks.

CoachAI Chat, meanwhile, offers a two-way channel between users and the system. Users can share feedback on workouts, ask for meal suggestions, or request advice on recovery, sleep and motivation. Each exchange is meant to make the platform more tailored to the individual.

“This is the beginning of a new era for digital fitness,” Shred founder and CEO Charlie Hale said. “CoachAI represents the evolution from static content to a living intelligence system. It does not just tell you what to do. It understands your patterns, adapts to your preferences and makes your training journey smarter. For the first time, your coach is not just guiding your workout, it is shaping your entire program with expertise and intelligence.”

Following its 2021 seed funding round, Shred is in the midst of another growth round it hopes to close by the end of November to “turbo-charge” growth into 2026 and 2027, ATN has learned.

Shred plans to expand the platform with deeper customization, including a coach platform intended to help fitness trainers build more personalized relationships with clients while it learns a trainer’s voice and unique methods. A waitlist has been created for the upcoming launch.

The app offers a free tier with limited access, but most of the company’s AI features sit behind paid plans. The annual subscription costs $119.99, or about $10 a month, while a month-to-month option runs $19.99. Both paid plans include personalized training, AI-powered progression and Apple Watch integration. Shred also provides discounts of up to 30% for students, teachers, medical workers, military personnel and first responders.

For employers, Shred offers a corporate wellness program centered on team challenges, leaderboards and customized fitness initiatives, with anonymous, aggregated health data to help companies track employee well-being.
