NHFA Looks to Unite Fitness Industry & Seeks 435 Reps for Every Congressional District
The National Health & Fitness Alliance has a goal to enlist 435 fitness professionals to represent the fitness industry
The National Health and Fitness Alliance (NHFA) is seeking to unite the health and fitness industry in order to ensure that those in need of health, fitness, and wellness services are never again underserved in the event of a future crisis.
The alliance is looking for 435 fitness professionals to build relationships with their congressional representatives in order to advocate for the fitness industry. The goal is to have representatives in place by June 1.
The non-partisan initiative is called Project 435, after the 435 congressional districts in the United States, and it is intended to be long-term and not just related to the challenges of the pandemic.
According to the NHFA, fitness advocates from all sectors of the industry are welcome, including commercial clubs, studios, YMCAs, JCCs, parks and recreational facilities, and medical wellness centers. Other industries are welcome to join the Alliance as well.
The recruitment is being led by Kevin McHugh, COO of The Atlantic Club, and NHFA board member and administrator Tom Richards.
Each representative will contact their Congress member and staff to promote exercise as an essential and critical component of healthcare. Members of Project 435 will be trained and supported by leadership teams.
