A study conducted last month by Orangetheory of over 1,000 18+ adults uncovered that 70 percent of “exercising-Americans admit they miss their routine before COVID-19, with more than 30 percent missing being inside a gym; having access to different fitness equipment; or having variety in their workouts.” The study also found that 68 percent of Americans feel their fitness regimen during the pandemic was less effective and disciplined compared to prior workouts, despite a continued commitment to exercising. So what does this mean looking forward? It means that Americans are eager to set new fitness goals, take their workouts outside and back to the gym to find the camaraderie they can’t replicate at home. This sentiment bodes well for the gym industry hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
