Fhitting Room Expands, Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

The HIIT and strength training boutique fitness studio is coming to NYC’s UES, D.C., and Philly

Fhitting Room is making moves on the ocassion of its 10-year anniversary, announcing expansion into three more New York Sports Club (NYSC) locations.

The new fitness outposts are slated to open later this year in NYC’s Upper East Side, Washington D.C.’s Dupont Circle, and Philadelphia’s Society Hill. The D.C. and Philly locations are going to be the first Fhitting Room studios outside the N.Y. metropolitan area.

Liz Benjamin, Chief Operating Officer of Fhitting Room, says there is a significant demand for in-person boutique fitness experiences.

With Fhitting Room now under the NYSC umbrella of brands, the three new studios will be located in a dedicated studio space within NYSC properties. The space will allow Fhitting Room guests access to the NYSC facility for the day before or after their Fhitting Room class. The boutique fitness brand says NYSC members will also have preferred pricing for Fhitting Room classes.

NYSC acquired Fhitting Room last fall.

Kari Saitowitz, the founder of Fhitting Room, stated in an interview with Athletech News in October 2022 that the brand recognized that building out physical spaces is an expensive and time-consuming endeavor, and the brand has been focused on asset-light growth. She explained that the NYSC acquisition would allow Fhitting Room to expand into select locations while focusing on programming, trainer development, marketing, and community building.

Saitowitz, now NYSC’s Chief Marketing and Creative Officer, stated that the boutique fitness brand had achieved a remarkable milestone against the backdrop of an industry that had been “deeply disrupted, if not broken,” by the pandemic. Fhitting Room made the difficult decision to shutter its NYC locations towards the end of 2021 due to the Omicron surge.

In a post on LinkedIn, Saitowitz noted the recent challenges NYSC has endured but reiterated that with a new CEO and bold vision, the Fhitting Room and NYSC partnership offers incredible growth potential.

With the worst of the pandemic in the rearview mirror, Fhitting Room is looking forward to building a community of fitness enthusiasts — and sees the need for in-person classes.

“At Fhitting Room we’re seeing an increased demand for in-person classes. People are seeking out and craving community experiences,” Benjamin said. “I truly believe community is the heart of in-person fitness, and despite advances in technology there isn’t a virtual replacement for the accountability, support and general belonging you get from working out with other people in a group setting. We hope to bring more of this with the continued expansion of Fhitting Room.”

Founded in 2013, Fhitting Room offers multiple class formats with a group workout experience that provides the attention of a personal training session led by ‘FHITpros.’ Spots are limited to ensure each guest receives the best experience.

While Fhitting Room operates two flagship studios in NYC and one licensed location in New Jersey, the NYC flagship studios will remain operating as standalone locations. The brand is currently looking to hire certified personal trainers to become ‘FHITpros’ at the new Fhitting Room locations and is asking interested parties to apply here.
