The premium treadmill maker says Assault Fitness, a brand under LifeCORE Fitness, infringes on its signature curved design

Premium treadmill maker Woodway has announced that the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board has upheld the validity of several patent claims protecting its line of non-motorized Curve treadmills, which was introduced in 2009.

The company has filed a patent infringement dispute against LifeCore Fitness (d/b/a Assault Fitness). A trial has been scheduled beginning April 1, 2025. Woodway confirms it’s seeking monetary damages and an order from the court prohibiting Assault Fitness from importing and selling its line of AssaultRunner Pro and Elite treadmills in the U.S. for infringing on its patents.

“Woodway takes tremendous pride in the innovations we have developed and integrated into our products,” Woodway’s director of sales and marketing Eric Weber said. “The Patent Office’s recent decisions confirming patentability of key claims in each of the three challenged patents fuel Woodway’s continued commitment to vigorously protect its valuable intellectual property and innovations.”
