The Pilates equipment leader has updated its best-selling Allegro Reformer with new design features for today’s studios

Balanced Body is marking the 25th anniversary of its Allegro Reformer with the launch of the Allegro Nextgen Reformer, an updated model designed to reflect the evolution of Pilates practice over the past two decades.

Since its debut in 2000, the Allegro has become popular in studios, with more than 40,000 units currently in use around the world.

“For years, we’ve referred to the Allegro Reformer as our ‘workhorse,’ and its high performance, low maintenance, affordable, and versatile attributes have made it an all-around crowd pleaser,” said Ken Endelman, the founder and CEO of Balanced Body. “The Allegro Nextgen Reformer has the proven performance and durability of the original, and newly added features—including our Infinity Footbar—to meet the progressive Pilates exercise demands of today’s users.”

The most notable addition is the Infinity Footbar, which can be adjusted to 10 horizontal and four vertical positions across the full length of the frame. The expanded range of motion makes it possible to work from either end of the reformer, an option increasingly in demand in group classes.

Other refinements include a slimmer footbar profile to make teaching around the equipment easier, simplified leg assembly, reinforced risers for stability, and design updates intended to fit into modern studio settings. The Nextgen maintains many of the original Allegro’s characteristics, such as its smooth carriage ride, spring system, and integrated standing platform, while offering optional accessories and configurations.

Balanced Body has also been expanding access to its equipment through a partnership with Flex, announced earlier this year. The move makes all Balanced Body products, from studio reformers to at-home equipment, eligible for HSA and FSA spending.
