PureGym Unveils New Group Fitness Classes, Opens Doors for Free

The U.K.’s largest gym operator opened all 435 of its locations to offer free access to its new group classes, Strike, Step and Pump

PureGym celebrated the upcoming National Fitness Day by throwing open its doors across the U.K. and giving thousands of people a chance to try its newest group workouts for free.

The country’s largest gym operator opened all 435 of its locations to both members and guests on Wednesday, with free access to fitness equipment, personal trainers, fitness challenges and tasters of its three new classes: Strike, Step and Pump.

PureGym’s three new formats are designed to appeal to different fitness preferences. Strike offers an MMA-inspired non-contact class that blends HIIT with functional training, Step is a choreographed cardio workout for both beginners and advanced steppers, and Pump delivers a resistance-based strength session using weights for a total body workout.

Members and guests will be able to access PureGym’s facilities and book classes on National Fitness Day on Sept. 24 with access code “OPENDAY,” although the special activities staged on Sept. 17, including personal trainer meet-and-greets, Q&A stations, fitness challenges, games and mash-up classes, will not be repeated.

“National Fitness Day is about inspiring as many people as possible to enjoy the benefits of being active, which is why we’re proud to open our doors to everyone to celebrate this occasion,” PureGym group customer and marketing director James Gauduchon said. “Alongside free access to our gyms, we’re delighted to be launching three new classes, Step, Strike and Pump to reflect evolving members’ needs and make group fitness more accessible. We’re excited to welcome members and thousands of first-time visitors through our doors to trial the new classes and fantastic facilities on offer.”
