CityPickle To Open Flagship Club & HQ in Times Square

CityPickle is about to turn happy hour into pickleball hour, giving commuters and city dwellers a more active way to connect in a post-work playground

CityPickle, a fast-expanding urban pickleball operator, is heading to Times Square with a new 37,000-square-foot flagship set to open this fall inside the historic Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway.

The new location will be CityPickle’s first year-round facility in Manhattan and will also serve as its corporate headquarters. The Midtown pickleball hub will feature 18-foot ceilings, seven professional courts, a full-service bar and restaurant, lounge and event space, showers and locker amenities.

“There’s no better place to plant our flag than Times Square, the epicenter of culture and entertainment,” CityPickle co-founder Mary Cannon said. “When selecting the location for our flagship, accessibility was key. Being near so many subway lines allows us to welcome players from all over the city while also catering to professionals working nearby, giving them a fun and active way to connect before or after work – or even on their lunch break.”

The space was secured with the help of Avison Young’s Martin Cottingham, Michael Gottlieb, Patrick Steffens and Alexis Odgers. Architecture firm Sentient Design Works is leading the redesign of the building’s eighth floor, once home to the famed Paramount Theater.

“Over the last several years, we’ve had the privilege to build spaces that bring people together through the joy of pickleball,” CityPickle co-founder Erica Desai said. “As we gear up to open doors to our newest location in Times Square, we look forward to continuing to emphasize the importance of building communities through the accessible nature of the sport combined with hospitality.”

Founded in New York City, CityPickle launched the city’s first indoor pickleball club in Long Island City and has grown into a lifestyle brand known for activating seasonal courts at Central Park’s Wollman Rink, Hudson Yards, Union Square and Brooklyn’s Atlantic Terminal.

“A space like this, with high ceilings and column-free areas for playing space, is a truly rare find in Manhattan, let alone at the ‘Crossroads of the World,’” Avison Young principal Martin Cottingham said. “The visibility and accessibility of this historic building in the heart of Times Square is unmatched, making it the perfect place for CityPickle’s Manhattan flagship.”

Beyond New York City, CityPickle has a presence in Philadelphia’s Dilworth Park and West Palm Beach, Florida. The company plans to open additional venues, including CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge and a massive 25-court Boca Paddle by CityPickle complex in South Florida in 2026.

The ambitious Boca Paddle by CityPickle project is being driven by a high-profile group of developers, hospitality leaders and professional athletes. The venture brings together Butters Construction, farm-to-table favorite Farmer’s Table and community leaders Stewart Davis and Brian Levine, the latter of whom serves on the board of the United Pickleball Association, the group behind the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. The investor pool includes some of the sport’s top-ranked talent, such as Anna Bright, Ben Johns, JW and Jorja Johnson, and Gabriel Tardio, all Boca Raton residents. Also backing the effort are luxury athletic club operator Life Time and prominent pickleball team owners Al Tylis, Richard Chaifetz and Ron Saslow.
