Giant Ideas Acquires Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, KickHouse

Giant Ideas is bringing Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, KickHouse and Legends Boxing under one roof, taking on a brand that’s faced recent challenges while joining a wave of consolidation

Giant Ideas, LLC is stepping into the ring with a heavyweight move, acquiring Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, co-founded by Floyd Mayweather and KickHouse and folding them into its Legends Boxing portfolio to create what it calls the largest skill-based fitness network in the industry.

With the deal, the Utah-based company now oversees more than 70 studios across domestic and international markets, but, according to Giant Ideas CEO Rob Scott, it’s steering clear of the breakneck expansion strategies that have fueled (and sometimes sunk) other franchise systems, instead focusing on “operational excellence and franchisee success over new unit sales.”

“The mission isn’t just to grow — it’s to build something unshakable,” Scott said. “We’re building a system that lasts. One that works for our members, our coaches and most importantly, our franchise partners.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and for Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, the deal comes amid a period of turbulence. In June, Business Insider reported that dozens of locations had closed nationwide over the past two years and that four franchisees have filed lawsuits against the company, Mayweather and its cofounders.

Scott, who believes the current franchise model “is broken,” said too many systems chase scale by “selling the dream” rather than delivering results. He noted he envisions growth coming naturally, through word-of-mouth, licensing and strong unit economics.

“We’re flipping the script,” he said. “Our energy is focused on helping the people who already believed in us — by developing better products, smarter technology, stronger operations, and surrounding them with rockstar-level support.”

While Legends Boxing, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness and KickHouse will keep their distinct brand identities and member experiences, Giant Ideas says it will unify back-end operations. Plans include upgraded franchisee dashboards, a revamped retail and apparel strategy, enhanced coach development and certification, skills-focused studio activations and streamlined app integrations to track member progress.

From a member’s perspective, Giant Ideas’ platform is built on a philosophy it calls Skill-Based Fitness, designed to appeal to everyday people who struggle with consistency, want more from their training and seek a true fitness community.

“What’s the best workout in the world? The one you’ll actually do,” Scott said. “We built this for people who need the coach, the club and the tribe. People who want to get healthy but need help staying on track.”

The brand touts its Patch Progression System, a rewards framework that gives members visible recognition for their effort and progress, turning fitness gains into tangible milestones.

“Family, work and us — that’s the third place we want to become,” Scott said. “When people know they’re supported, seen, and progressing — they keep coming back.”

The acquisition comes as reshuffling and consolidation sweeps through the boutique fitness industry. Last year, Orangetheory Fitness merged with Anytime Fitness parent Self Esteem Brands to create Purpose Brands, a holding company that now oversees nearly 8,000 locations globally. Barre3 has been on a buying streak of its own, snapping up smaller barre concepts to grow its footprint. Last month, Xponential Fitness unloaded Rumble Boxing and CycleBar to Extraordinary Brands, adding to the franchisor’s growing portfolio after its 2024 purchase of Row House. The Charlottesville, Virginia-based company now owns six boutique fitness brands, including Neighborhood Barre, purvelo cycling and the personalized group training concept Eat the Frog Fitness.

The trend points to a shift toward multi-brand platforms, a play Giant Ideas is now making with its newly combined boxing and kickboxing portfolio.

Although Giant Ideas’ public-facing site is still under construction, with a note that a new website is coming soon, it also lists several other ventures alongside Legends Boxing, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness and KickHouse: Cage Punch, an organic cleaner brand, Atmosphere Chiropractic & Wellness, Bootlegged Barber and FightCon.

For his part, Mayweather is expanding beyond the gym, striking an exclusive partnership with GNC to roll out his 101 (One of One) line of supplements in more than 2,000 stores nationwide and online.
