Levels Adds Dexcom Stelo, Non-Prescription CGM

With FDA-cleared CGM Dexcom Stelo in its lineup, Levels lets members pair glucose data with personalized guidance, track daily habits and gain insights to boost energy and long-term health
Health tech startup Levels, co-founded by Dr. Casey Means, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Surgeon General, who has yet to be confirmed, is adding Stelo by Dexcom to its membership offering. The prescription-free glucose biosensor gives users 24/7 access to glucose insights.
The move opens continuous glucose monitoring to consumers who want to see how diet, exercise, stress and sleep influence energy and appetite and builds on the company’s June expansion that added insurance-covered access to registered dietitian nutritionists, AI-powered habit tracking and lab testing with panels ranging from 28 to more than 100 markers.
Stelo, cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2024, is the first over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor available in the U.S. without a prescription. Intended for adults who don’t use insulin and either manage diabetes with oral medications or have no diabetes diagnosis, the wearable device lets users see how lifestyle factors influence glucose levels in near real-time.
Jeff Shuren, director of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, described the clearance at the time as a step toward advancing health equity, noting that the devices “can be a powerful tool” for monitoring glucose without requiring access to a healthcare provider.

“We’ve spent the last six years building the most complete platform for metabolic health,” Levels co-founder and president Josh Clemente said. “With Stelo, we’re giving even more people the ability to tune into their body’s signals. It’s a powerful tool for building better habits, and it’s now easier to access than ever.”
Levels also recently partnered with CrossFit to bring metabolic tracking, lab testing and nutrition insights to more than 11,000 affiliates and 100,000 credentialed coaches. The move marked the startup’s first alliance with a major fitness brand and reflects the rise of the “gym as a clinic” model, in which fitness centers incorporate preventive health tools alongside training programs.
