Hyrox & Centr Team Up To Launch High-Performance Turf
The race-ready turf will debut this June at the Hyrox World Championships in Chicago and be available for Hyrox Training Clubs and Performance Centers
Hyrox, the fast-growing name in competitive racing, is leveling up its race-day experience with the launch of Hyrox X Centr Perform Turf — a custom-engineered racing surface set to make its mark at the World Championships in Chicago this June.
Developed in collaboration with Centr and athlete-tested, the new sled turf is designed to deliver optimal conditions for sled pushes and pulls and will be available for purchase for Hyrox Training Clubs and Performance Centers.
Centr, the fitness platform founded by actor Chris Hemsworth, has become a key Hyrox partner, signing on as the official race-day equipment supplier and recently launching new training programs for athletes preparing for Hyrox events.
The patent-pending turf design underwent more than 200,000 simulated wear tests and is available in multiple sizes and configurations, so facilities can create the perfect training areas.
“We are now creating individual athletic experiences for hundreds of thousands of athletes in competitions and millions in training,” director of sports Mintra Tilly said. “We want to ensure that each of those experiences reflects our obsession with performance, and creating a surface for the sleds, which has been engineered from the ground up to standardize our athletes’ experience, has been a key strategic focus for us.”
Ahead of the Hyrox World Championships in Chicago, the global competitive fitness race brand is taking over New York City in May for its second annual outdoor race in the Big Apple. The three-day event, in partnership with functional fitness franchisor F45, will be held at Pier 76 Hudson River Park, where roughly 15,000 athletes are expected to compete.
As enthusiasm for racing continues to build, Hyrox’s popularity has driven more than 5,000 affiliate gyms—from independent fitness studios to major chains like F45—to register as official Hyrox Training Clubs.
“We believe the sport of Hyrox can be trained inside every fitness facility around the world in the same way you go to yoga or HIIT class,” Hyrox chief operations officer Douglas Gremmen told Athletech News earlier this year.
