Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings launches inaugural charity beach volleyball tournament in the Hamptons, pairing pros, lifeguards and locals for a day of sport and service

On July 22, 2025, Kirk Beach Park in Montauk will host the inaugural Hampton Volley, a new community-driven beach volleyball tournament founded by three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings. The event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public, blends professional talent with local lifeguards and amateur players for a full day of competition and charitable impact.

Created in partnership with the events platform CONTRA, Hampton Volley aims to bring the energy of West Coast beach volleyball to the East Coast while raising funds for two nonprofit organizations: the Hampton Lifeguard Association and the p1440 Foundation. Proceeds will support local water safety programs and youth empowerment through sport.

“This event is about more than just volleyball,” Walsh Jennings said. “It’s about bringing people together, supporting organizations doing meaningful work, and using sport as a vehicle for connection and growth.”

The competition will feature eight mixed teams made up of professional athletes, community members, and local lifeguards. Among the players are Olympic medalists, national team athletes, and AVP champions, including Phil Dalhausser, Taylor Sander, Taylor Crabb and Brooke Nuneviller.

The day before the tournament, on July 21, Walsh Jennings will lead a youth clinic for players ages 11 to 18. The session offers young athletes the chance to learn on the sand alongside the Olympian. Registration details can be found on the p1440 website.

“We’re grateful to be part of Hampton Volley,” said John Ryan Jr., president of the Hampton Lifeguard Association and Chief Lifeguard for the Town of East Hampton. “The support will go directly toward lifeguard education and beach safety efforts that benefit everyone who enjoys our coastline.”

Hero Beach Club will host guests throughout the day, with food, beverages, and activities provided by sponsors.
